CFCA, as the development cooperation agency of Latvia, implements the project in Uzbekistan "Support to Capacity Building for the Public Administration of Uzbekistan". On May 30, the first meeting of the Project board was held at the Embassy of Latvia in Uzbekistan. The project board includes representatives from the supporting German development cooperation organisation "GIZ" and partners from Uzbekistan: Agency for the Development of Public Service (ARGOS); Agency for Strategic Reforms and Academy of Public Administration.
The co-chair of the Project board, the director of CFCA, Anita Krūmiņa, emphasized that the agency is very pleased with the opportunity given by the German government to implement this project, because strategic planning and human resources development are essential issues in any country, especially in Uzbekistan, which has expressed its firm determination to approach European values. Latvian public administration has invested a lot in the development of human resources, so Latvia has accumulated knowledge and expertise over the years to provide project partners in this area.
The Project board agreed on the future directions of activities, paying special attention to the development and implementation of training programs for employees of the public administration of Uzbekistan. The next activity of the project will be a training visit to Riga on the development of a civil service strategy.
