In 14 June, the CFCA has launched a three-day training programme for a delegation from the Ministry of Finance of North Macedonia for carrying out checks at EU fund projects.
During the visit CFCA experts will present the CFCA's methodology and approach in the planning and organisation of inspections, demonstrating how the information system for the management of cohesion policy is being used in this process. CFCA experts will demonstrate in practical terms how different categories of expenditure are examined in projects, as are the selection of project expenditure for inspection purposes, and how the verification results in an opinion on the results of the verification.
As part of the training visit, representatives of North Macedonia will have the opportunity to visit a number of water management, road and urban infrastructure development projects co-financed by EU funds from the 2014-2020 programming period in Riga and close to it.
As an EU candidate country in preparation for the transition to the national EU fund management system, the North Macedonia training visit aims to provide more information on Latvia's experience in the transition to a decentralised EU fund implementation system and the CFCA as the only national liaison authority, including the EU fund project monitoring process and the resources needed to implement these functions.
