Today, 20 June, the representatives of the Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) have a meeting with the representatives of Latvia’s national unit of the European Public Prosecutor’s Office (EPPO) as part of an introductory visit to strengthen cooperation and facilitate information exchange.
During the event, Anita Krūmiņa, Director of the CFCA, presented the history, functions, programmes, and structure of the CFCA to the representatives of the Latvian office of the EPPO. The structure of the European Union (EU) funds system and the sectoral contribution of EU funds projects under the supervision of the CFCA were also discussed, including the CFCA’s tasks in managing the financial instruments for the upcoming period.
The European Public Prosecutor’s Office is the new independent public prosecution office of the EU. It is responsible for investigating, prosecuting, and bringing to judgement crimes against the financial interests of the EU.
In EU countries, European delegated prosecutors act on behalf of the EPPO and have the same powers as national prosecutors in respect of investigations, prosecutions and bringing cases to judgement.
